We know that Instagram doesn’t allow direct links on either the post or the captions. While you can add the URL to your blog post in the caption, it won’t appear as a clickable hyperlink. Annoying right? I know!
But, driving traffic from Instagram to blog is possible. Here’s how.
There are three places to include clickable links to help you drive traffic from Instagram.
1.The first step is always the easiest – your bio
Your bio should contain a link to the blog you’re driving users toward. But often, most brands add a link to their homepage and just leave it at that.
Instead, if you frequently update your bio link it is a much more effective tool to help drive traffic. If the URL is directly linked to your blog on the website or one that’s related to your most recent Instagram posts about the same the chances are much higher. You can also use phrases like “link in our bio” in your posts as a smart way to increase the number of users who actually click on it.
2. Instagram stories is the best way
Another way to add links is through Instagram Stories. By adding a link on your story with a catchy CTA about your blog post can send traffic to your site. When you add a link the user can swipe up or click the “See More” button at the bottom of a linked story.
But there is a catch. You can only add a link on Instagram Stories if you have a business account with over 10k followers or if your account is verified.
However, when there is a will there’s a way!
a) Use Insta Story sticker called the “Chat”
Ask people to join the chat. Everyone who joins will be able to get the link in their DMs.
This way all those who are interested will get your link at the same time, in one message.
Note: The Instagram limit is 31 people in one Chat. Also make sure to go in the settings of your group chat turn OFF “Approval Required to Join” so that everyone can join in just one click.
Instagram allows you to add a “real” link in your IGTV caption, no matter how many followers you have. Here is how to do it:
Create an IGTV video which features a little teaser of your blog. In your IGTV caption, add the blog link. Add an interesting CTA in the video, telling people to tap on the title of the video to get the link and an arrow that points towards the title of your video which has the clickable link. Post the video on your IGTV channel and that’s it! As soon as you post your IGTV video, you will be able to add it to your Insta Story tool.
3. Promote your blog through teasers
People love a good build up. So let’s give them what they want. Make your audience excited about your blog post by adding teasers. Here’s how to get people hooked.
-First, ask a simple and engaging question.
-Next, provide just enough context to clue the reader about the blog to pique curiosity about the blog
-And end with a simple call to action – telling followers where to get the answers
4. Repurpose Your Blog Posts
Instagram also works well for microblogging. Here you can share key insights from your blog in a post and the caption and drive traffic to your real blog. Be short and sweet and post a little description of your blog. Add “link in bio” to your CTA and you’re done! A little bit of strategy goes a long way. While the process of adding links is a little more complicated on Instagram there are many ways to drive traffic from instagram to blog. Being dynamic on your profile through Insta Stories and IGTV helps excite your audience. Finally, as a marketing tool Instagram is one of the best ways to drive your audience to your blog posts.
